Spring Break Fun

Yes I know, Spring Break was last month but we just got around to uploading the pics. We are still trying to follow our budget so no big adventures for us this year. We did go to the Rodeo on Sports Fan day and received free admission for wearing jerseys. I wore one of John's very large Lakers jerseys and felt a little weird but oh well. We started with the pig races and the kids just had to have their pig noses.

We roamed a bit and Syd discovered the trampoline with ropes. She had a blast doing flips and enjoyed it so much she went back a second time. We decided not to do the wrist bands since Jake wasn't tall enough to ride the kiddie rides without an adult and we didn't want to all get one.

Jake was a little hesitant about the animals which is odd since he loves all of our pets at home. He did ride a pony but would not pet him. We ended the Spring Break weekend visiting family. John loves it because he plays golf all weekend, the kids have a blast playing with cousins and I get to hang out with my cousins too.

The boy

Well I was going to post some photos from Jake's birthday but I ran across this photo of him sleeping on the stairs and it made me laugh. Since Christmas break he has been fighting us at bedtime. Well he has been found at the top of the stairs or in this case about half way down, and has almost been stepped on a few times when someone did not turn on the stairs light.

He was allowed to open 1 present the day before his birthday and then he opened a few more presents at the house before we headed to the mall. The one he opened on Sunday, he said but that's not what I wanted when he opened a Planet Hero guy. We had just bought one for his friend's birthday so we thought he would enjoy this one. Well he didn't like him at first but later watched the video that came with it and was liking his new hero.

On Monday since most of his cousin's were out of school and so was he, we decided to take them to Inflatable Wonderland for his actual birthday. We will be celebrating with cake and such this weekend. Poor thing had 4 shots and so he was limping and saying he couldn't walk and then once we got inside he ran non-stop until we left. He was definitely feeling it when we went to Serrano's for dinner afterwards. They had a good time and it's always fun playing with their cousins. So he's a little guy but we were a little disappointed when the doctor told his nurse based on his growth rate, he expects him to be 5 ft 6 and 125 lbs as an adult. Now John had a late growth spurt and I know I'm short but I'm still hopeful that the Drs prediction will be way off. Well I know the weight has to be off because neither John's family or my family have too many people in that weight range.

Ready to go home!

Well for those that do not know, John had part of his large intestine removed on Monday. He had 25% of it removed to be exact. My brother thinks he will lose some weight as a result, he means more than the 10 to 14 lbs he has lost from the liquid diet he started on Sunday. He has not had anything to eat since then. He hit a milestone this morning at 5:30 am and was in a lot of pain. The doc said he would put him on a liquid diet once he hit it, and now we are waiting for him to come or the nurse to call him. Chris has been staying at the house this week and he has pitched in to help cook dinner 2 nights and picked up the kiddos yesterday. I'm ready for John to be home and for Chris to go home. It's great to have the help but he has this little problem called insomnia, so he's up all night watching tv and eating our food. I don't care about it so much except that he also is bad about cleaning up after himself so the other day I found myself cursing at him about not being his maid. Seriously, there was a a banana peel, a cereal box and crumbs all over the counter from all the English muffins he ate. What a slob! Sorry for all the ranting but there is a reason that we asked him to move out and that's a big part of it. Let's just hope he doesn't ask to move back in since he is currently unemployed.

We are in the new CP Regional Hospital which is very convenient to the house. It seems nice and all and they having some pretty cool features like walkie talkie type devices that allows them to communicate with almost anyone in the hospital. They also have a keyboard you can connect to check email, surf the web and control the tv. I had soup and sandwich from the cafeteria on Monday and I'm used to thrown together soup thanks to the Dell cafeterias but seriously chicken noodle should not be that easy to mess up but they managed to. There was not enough broth and the noodles were tiny specs like they had been broken up and they used the remaining crumbs. Although that is not very appealing, it was cheap and I seem to have lost a few lbs since I am not eating as much as I do at work. I will be missing another weigh in day for Weight Watchers and I don't care as long as John gets to eat something, tolerates it and can go home. Although I have not done much this week, it has been exhausting none the less.

The most amusing part of John's stay, was not the catheter they had to put in him but was what he had the nerve to say afterwards in his drug induced words of wisdom. He said that he would rather have a baby than have a catheter put in again. While I can see that at least with a baby, yes there is happiness that follows but think about how long most women have to go through labor. His pain was over in less than 5 minutes and I've know women who labored for days.

I am hoping not to have to sit in the hospital for another day. Yes, the recliner I'm sitting in is pretty comfy but I'm ready to resume to our somewhat normal life. I took pics of Syd and Jake in John's bed yesterday and maybe I'll get around to posting them.
